The Chesapeake Collection Hand-painted bamboo scarf

Hand-painted bamboo scarf / No. 19

The Inspiration

I began to sketch out The Chesapeake Collection last fall. Every autumn it is treat to go sailing on my father-in-law's boat on the Chesapeake Bay. I love being out on the water and seeing huge freighters that are coming into port from far away seas. I love looking out at the horizon and admiring the craft that goes into making beautiful sailboats. I love seeing how the light dances on the water and becoming one with that light. And I love that at 75 he can set sail, doing what he loves and teaching his grandchildren how to sail.

I numbered each scarf as I painted them, I painted 25 of them, each one completely unique, this one is No. 19, I painted it on the lower-right corner of the sailboat.

This luxuriously soft lightweight scarf is truly versatile - - it can be worn as a scarf, shawl, sarong or kimono. Need an extra layer on the plane - you're good to go. It's the perfect travel scarf. Need a lightweight layer to protect your skin from the sun, I've got you covered.

A sustainably-grown fiber, bamboo is blended with rayon to create a supremely soft fabric that drapes beautifully and feels even better. It’s the most sustainable bamboo rayon available, produced in a closed loop system where the effluents are 100% recycled, it is considered more sustainable than organic cotton and produced with far less water. We pride ourselves on sourcing one of the most sustainable bamboo rayons available in the U.S.
