“Foraged | Local Color,” a collaboration between artists Annabella Sardelis and Annie Irene Hejny, will be on display at Gamut Gallery in Minneapolis from October 26 - November 22, 2019.

Their unique collaboration involves foraging for local plants to produce colors from those plants that grow abundantly around the Twin Cities. Foraged is about creating connections to plants, place and to our community.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see what local color looks like and deepen their connection to the Twin Cities’ natural landscape.

“Foraged | Local Color” is a collaboration between artists Annabella Sardelis and Annie Irene Hejny that is sourced from plants that they have locally foraged to create natural dyes and pigment. Their work features colors from seven plants gathered from the Twin Cities’ bioregion. “Foraged” invites viewers to reconnect with nature and recognize the wisdom of plants in our everyday lives. This interdisciplinary exhibition celebrates local color and artistic collaboration.

A personal connection to the natural world defines the work of both artists, whose processes involve organic materials, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship. As Hejny says, “Our work is made for the earth, in honor of the earth, and for people to connect with the earth.”
